Jolly Time is Americas original brand of popcorn and has been around for 86 years.

The American Pop Corn Company has appointed GDLbrands in New Zealand as its sole agent and distributor of Jolly Time microwave popcorn.

Microwave Popcorn is huge in the USA with 67% of all popcorn sales being microwave popcorn sales. The same trend is developing quickly in New Zealand with the advent of microwave ovens now being found in most homes, motels and workplace lunchrooms.

Retailers are beginning to see the trend and prefer the obvious advantages associated with the products compact size as opposed to the bulkiness of pre-popped pop corn. It also allows the consumer a wider variety to choose from as Jolly Time microwave popcorn comes in many flavours including several butter varieties, a sweet flavour and a cheese flavour.

Internationally Jolly Time microwave popcorn caters for all markets. In the USA the more butter the better although of late Kettle Mania, a semi sweet popcorn, is increasing in sales as is cheese to a slightly lesser extent. In Germany its sweet or sweeter whereas in many European countries its low fat and original that dominates the market.

New Zealand is a bit of all those markets and although Blast o butter and White & Buttery, the heavy and medium butter flavours, are likely to fill the major share of the market, we believe the sweet (Kettle Mania), low fat (Healthy Pop), natural (Crispy and White) and the cheese (Cheddar Cheese) will all take an even and significant share of the balance of the market.
